Vilnius will help rebuild Ukrainian cities — Kira Rudik about the meeting with the mayor of the Lithuanian capital Remigijus Šimašius

The Lithuanian capital — Vilnius — is ready at all levels to help Ukraine restore the territories freed from rashists. It is about short-term urgent solutions, such as window glazing and roof repairs, as well as long-term projects, for example, urban reconstruction. These are the results of the meeting of the leader of the Golos party, MP, vice-president of ALDE Kira Rudik with the mayor of Vilnius Remigijus Šimašius.

«Vilnius was the first to understand what exactly the newly liberated Ukrainian cities need as soon as possible — the repair of what survived. And they immediately sent help: double-glazed windows and building materials. This is a good example for other European cities and not just cities.

In addition, the Lithuanian capital is ready to help in the long term — with rebuilding cities and conducting examinations. Vilnius has a unique experience of working with post-Soviet architecture, transforming these spaces into more comfortable and modern ones, especially in kindergartens and schools», — said the leader of Golos.

Remigijus Šimašius has been the head of Vilnius since 2015, from 2008 to 2012 he was the Minister of Justice of Lithuania, he headed the Liberal Movement party. From the beginning of the large-scale invasion, Vilnius began to receive Ukrainian refugees and all work was organized as quickly as possible.

«Lithuanians have mobilized and analyzed their capacities in order to receive people as quickly as possible. For example, Ukrainian refugees are helped to find housing in the Lithuanian capital within three days, children are just as quickly placed in kindergartens and schools, and they are helped to achieve maximum integration into society. According to the Lithuanians themselves, Ukrainians find work very quickly», — noted Kira Rudik during a trip to Vilnius and a meeting with the city's mayor.
