There are $500 billion in russian assets in the world. This is much more than our partners could give us, – Kira Rudik
Ukraine continues to work with the national parliaments of partner countries to pass the necessary legislation that would allow to transfer frozen russian assets for the recovery of Ukraine. After all, these funds are much more than the allies can allocate. An MP of Ukraine, leader of the Golos party, ALDE vice-president Kira Rudik said this on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada.
«Now there are 500 billion dollars of russian assets in the world. This is much more than each country can promise us as part of their support. We believe that it is as fair and correct as possible to use the assets of the russian central bank and russian oligarchs, and not the taxpayers of those countries that are our allies», — emphasized the leader of Golos.
According to Kira Rudik, work is currently underway with Estonia, which may become the first country in the EU to vote on legislative changes necessary for confiscation.
«We are very glad that Estonia has agreed to vote for the draft law that concerns the confiscation of russian assets in this country. There are 21 million dollars, and despite the small amount, it is very important, because it is the first step. This will show other countries that it is not scary, it can be done and it will become the new norm. There was a law in Canada, then in the USA and now we have great hopes that Estonia will become a pioneer in the EU», — stressed the MP.
