The aggressor must pay for everything destroyed: MPs of Ukraine called on the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to support the initiative to confiscate russian assets

40 MPs of Ukraine addressed a letter to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak with a call to support the initiative to confiscate russian assets. An MP of Ukraine, leader of the Golos party, and vice-president of ALDE Kira Rudik, who also signed the abovementioned document, reported this.

«We hope that the UK will adopt the relevant changes. A draft law on economic crimes and corporate transparency has already been registered in the UK Parliament, which will allow such a transfer of russian funds to Ukraine.

Now in the United Kingdom, £26 billion of assets of the russian central bank, as well as money and property of russian oligarchs, are frozen. Both British parliamentarians and citizens agree that these funds should be directed to the recovery of Ukraine from russian aggression. It is quite logical that the aggressor must pay for everything destroyed», — emphasized the leader of Golos.

In particular, the letter states that the seizure of already frozen russian assets in the United Kingdom would be transformative. The confiscated assets could then be repurposed to finance the reconstruction of Ukraine. This will be a clear signal to putin, his circle, and the oligarchs. After discussions with members of parliament and civil society in the United Kingdom, MPs of Ukraine believe that there are a number of available options for achieving this within the framework of the rule of law and compliance with international conventions.
